Alignment & Breath: A 3-part online yoga practice course

Strengthen your practice by mastering the essentials. 

In this 3-part course, we will study and practice two of the most fundamental elements of yoga: alignment and breathing.  Alignment in yoga is a precise way to transition and stack your body in a pose to maximize its benefits. Breath in yoga is the intentional, voluntary movement of your inhale and exhale to generate balance and a steady mind. When you have an understanding of alignment and breath, you have the tools to make almost any yoga practice work for your body.

Each week we will meet virtually to break down alignment of common yoga poses, relevant yoga anatomy principles, benefits of each pose, and benefits and techniques of up to two breathworks (pranayama) each session. You will also receive access to a weekly 30-minute yoga practice incorporating alignment and breath techniques to help you embody and understand the value of your yoga practice.

Appropriate for those brand new to yoga looking to get started with a safe and fundamentally sound yoga practice, as well as those already practicing looking for a yoga tune up, this course is built for beginners and all-levels.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • Session I (75 minutes): Alignment of Forward Bending Poses; Breathing practices of Ujjayi and Samavritti.

  • Session II (75 minutes): Alignment of Backbending Poses; Breathing practices of Antara Kumbhaka and Bahya Kumbhaka

  • Session III (75 minutes): Alignment of Side Bending and Twisting Poses; Breathing practice of Nadi Shodhana.

THIS COURSE INCLUDES:

  • 3 online 75-minute sessions 

  • 3 online 30-minute yoga practices to implement and embody what we have learned in each session

  • Q+A anytime with Lindsay through a private Facebook Group
